Effects of surface nanostructure and wettability on pool boiling: A molecular dynamics study

We study the role of surface topology, chemistry, and wall superheat temperature on onset boiling, bubble nucleation growth, possible formation an insulating vapour film by means a novel setup for large-scale MD simulations. To minimise effects system size growth film, we perform simulations in box larger than those previously considered. The effect pressure is isolated imposing constant force moving piston mechanically controlling pressure. reveal that presence nanostructure determines site facilitates energy transfer from hot substrate to water. other hand, governs shape formed bubble. A hydrophilic accelerates nucleation, however, decelerates expansion, thus postponing vapour.
